agatha suspension lights

something i definitely want to experiment with more this upcoming semester are lighting effects, and the use of the agatha suspension light (designed by luis eslava for lzf lamps) is exactly what i'm looking for. the color of the ceiling, mixed with the fixture's material (i have an obsession with anything made of wood)‚ and the type of lamp (bulb) used is excellent. but let's not lie here, the fixture is pretty sweet.

weekend blog love

on the weekends i tend to get a little antsy because all the blogs i like to read go offline, leaving me with nothing to fill my time! ugh! but it also gives me time to explore other blogs, and i found the most fabulous ones this weekend. check it out.





1. urban outfitters blog. seriously, who would have thought? even if you aren't into their clothing style this blog has a bunch of stuff for everyone! interesting art finds, movie trailers, fashion insights, etc etc. a few of the things i found on their blog today included panda bread, crayon artwork, and bill crosby made of jello shots. awesome!?







2. my milk toof! super super cute photojournalistic type of blog that follows the adventures of ickle and lardee.





3. contemporist, an architecture, interiors, furniture, and just plain 'ol amazing design blog with a lot of interesting contemporary spaces!

the michelberger hotel

first off i have to say what a great group of designers who have imagined this place! if you check out the website for the hotel you'll see how quirky, funny, creative, and cool they are! make sure your speakers are on, it was a cute little surprise.

but about the space itself, the michelberger hotel, located in germany, is claimed to be a "budget hotel" with rates starting as low as 59 EUR per night. the name of the hotel comes from the founder, tom michelberger, who is himself from germany. his innovation was creating an airy, contemporary, and stylish budget hotel, unlike others which he found to be "very standard and conventional." together with tom, a group of his friends, and designer werner aisslinger, the hotel was born! and is scheduled to open this september!

bar bambino

in keeping with the cafe/restaurant theme, this is bar bambino by aidlin darling design. i came across their design firm probably two years ago at this point, but whenever i think about cute cafe's this one always comes to mind. it has such a warm feeling. of course i love the horizontal woodwork on the walls, but the bottle chandelier is pretty great as well.

taylor gourmet

i've always had a desire to open my own shop, which could possibly be mostly to design/decorate it, and this building has brought that hibernated idea back out again. i'm not totally in love with the interior, but i do love the use of recycled shipping pallets, the signage, open shelving, and the fact that they live in the floors above, with the great Ikea hack in the kitchen and exposed brick.
